Diversity Experiences
Cultural Diversity Class
In the Spring semester of 2018, I was able to complete my cultural diversity experience at the Bismarck Heritage center. Here we worked with children of the North Dakota community to teach them about Native Americans through the exhibits at the Heritage center. As seen in the picture we are teaching them how to make a style of Native American bracelets.
Miracle League
In the summer of 2017, I was an assistant coach of the Centennial High School Legion Baseball team. I learned the insides of coaching from the people I respect most in the coaching world, my high school coaches. Every year, we volunteer to help out with Miracle Leagues Las Vegas. This is a program that holds games every week for athletes with disabilities. This is one of the most humbling experiences that I have ever been apart of and I am very glad I have not only been able to experience this as a player but through my coaching career.
Servant Leadership Experiences
Samaritan's Feet
I volunteered with an organization called Samaritan's Feet. This event was held at Will-Moore Elementary School where I washed the feet of students who have a low socioeconomic status, give them socks, and fit them with a new pair of shoes. This event provided a memorable and truly humbling experience.
Special Olympics
Through out my four years here at the University of Mary our baseball team has volunteered with the North Dakota Special Olympics Bowling Tournament. I have helped out in several ways including serving dinner, assisting at the tournaments athletes as an official scorer, as well as facilitating the award ceremony with my teammates.
